Russian and Belarusian athletes will not compete at Hangzhou Asian Games

The International Olympic Committee has decided not to allow athletes from Belarus and Russia to participate in the Asian Games.

This was reported by The Indian Express.

The Asian Games will begin on September 23 in Hangzhou, China.

"The concept of the participation of athletes with Russian and Belarusian passports at the Asian Games 2023 was explored as discussed at the Olympic Summit in December 2022, but was not feasible due to technical reasons," the newspaper quoted the IOC as saying.

However, it is not yet clear whether the Russian athletes will not be allowed to compete just at the Asian Games or all continental Olympic qualifying events.
