Russian and Belarus athletes to be allowed to compete at the 2023 Asian Games
Athletes from Russia and Belarus have been allowed to participate in the Asian Games, which will be held from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.

These competitions will be attended by 500 Russian and Belarusian athletes. During the Asian Games, they will be able to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
Russian and Belarussian athletes will not be eligible for medals under a neutral flag and no national symbols will be permitted.
In January 2023, the President of the International Olympic Committee said that excluding athletes "because of their passport" was not in line with the values and mission of the Olympic Charter.
On January 25, the IOC proposed to allow Belarusian and Russian athletes to participate in the Games under a neutral flag.
