Local residents of the Romanian border community of Ceatalchioi witnessed the attack on Izmail by Russian drones on the night of August 2.

This was reported by the mayor of the Ceatalchioi commune, Tudor Cernega, on the Romanian TV channel Digi24.

According to him, the drones flew from several directions to confuse air defences. One of the drones allegedly crashed in the forest, but no drone debris was found.

"People were scared, windows were broken because being a swampy area, the shock wave propagated very strongly, creating the impression of an earthquake," Cernega commented.

The country's defence ministry says there is currently "no direct military threat to Romania's national territory or territorial waters".

As a reminder, on the night of August 2, Russians attacked the Odesa region with drones. The port of Izmail suffered the greatest damage.
