Representatives of the Slovak national community of Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia) appealed to the European Council and the Prime Minister of Slovakia to support Ukraine's accession to the EU

Representatives of the Slovak national community living in Zakarpattia have appealed to the European Council and its President Charles Michel and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to support Ukraine's accession to the EU.

This was reported by the head of the NGO Society of Slovak Intelligentsia of Zakarpattia Ernest Horvat and the head of the NGO Zakarpattia Regional Cultural and Educational Society of Slovak Women "Trust" Jana Dudas-Ryzhak.
Representatives of the Slovak national community published their appeal after a similar appeal by the Hungarian national community of Zakarpattia. The texts of both appeals are almost identical - they recognise the reforms in Ukraine and the qualitative changes to the law on national minorities.
In particular, the Slovaks of Zakarpattia emphasised Ukraine's significant progress in implementing the recommendations of the European Commission on the rights of national minorities.

The Slovak national community also noted that Ukraine, even during the full-scale Russian invasion, "continues to implement the necessary reforms and remains true to its European integration values".
