Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez arrives in Ukraine

On July 1, Spain took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union. On this occasion, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez arrived in Ukraine on a visit.

Sánchez announced that Spain would provide Ukraine with a new aid package worth €55 million, 4 Leopard tanks, armoured personnel carriers, and a mobile field hospital.

During a press conference, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he and Sánchez had started discussing the 12th package of sanctions.

"Ukraine does not understand why Europe has not yet imposed sanctions against Rosatom. Representatives of the company continue to occupy the Zaporizhzhia NPP," Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine also said that some partners are delaying the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

"We have agreed, we have pressed that we have a coalition of countries that are ready to start training Ukrainian pilots [on F-16s]. There is no schedule of training missions. I believe that some partners are delaying this. I do not know why they are doing this," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier it was reported that Denmark and the Netherlands would lead a coalition to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters. Norway, Belgium, Portugal, and Poland have also offered to contribute to the training.
