Polish Border Guard requests the Polish Ministry of Defence to redeploy another thousand soldiers to the border with Belarus
Maj Gen. Tomasz Praga, Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard, has asked the Ministry of National Defence to deploy another thousand soldiers to the Polish-Belarusian border.
This was reported by the Polish media outlet Onet.
Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration Maciej Wąsik spoke about migration pressure from Belarus.
In his words, 19 thousand attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border were recorded this year.
"The Belarusian services have turned from services that are supposed to protect the state border into a criminal organisation that organises illegal migration and receives huge profits from it," Tomasz Praga said.
As reported, on August 3, Poland announced regrouping additional combat helicopters to the border with Belarus. The decision was made after Belarusian helicopters violated Polish airspace on August 1.
