Panama Flagged Civilian Ship Explodes on Russian Mine in Black Sea

A civilian bulk carrier flying the flag of Panama exploded on a Russian mine in the Black Sea.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.

The bulk carrier was on its way to a Danube port to load grain. The vessel lost momentum and control, and a fire broke out on the top deck. The captain of the bulk carrier managed to keep the vessel grounded.

Ukrainian border guards assisted the crew and brought medics on board. Two people were injured. One of them was treated on the spot, and the other was taken to hospital. He is in a satisfactory condition. 

Tugs were sent to the vessel to remove it from the shoal and bring it to the port.
