Oppositionist Pavlo Latushko: 2150 illegally taken Ukrainian children are being held in Belarus

Opposition Belarusian politician and head of the People's Anti-Crisis Management Pavlo Latushko reported that 2,150 Ukrainian children had been taken to Belarus from the temporarily occupied territories. There are many orphans among them.

He said this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

"My team of the People's Anti-Crisis Management has prepared a preliminary report on the abduction and transfer of Ukrainian children. There are three places where they are being held in Belarus. We pay special attention to orphans. Some orphans have been taken to the territory of Belarus," Latushko said.

The oppositionist also mentioned the re-education of Ukrainian children, when they are told that Ukraine does not exist as a state, there is no culture or history of Ukraine.

Belarusian human rights activists pass all this information to the Ukrainian authorities and the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

At the end of May, Latushko reported about 2600 deported children who were being held in two places in Minsk region and one in Gomel region. The oppositionist claimed to have documents providing financial support for the transfer of children, signed personally by Lukashenka.

Ukraine is investigating the involvement of Belarus in the forced deportation of the children, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

In March, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova.

According to the Children of War portal, 19,500 children have been deported from Ukraine.
