On April 1, Russia will assume presidency of the UN Security Council
From April 1, 2023, the Russian Federation will chair the UN Security Council.
Serhii Kyslytsia, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, reported this.
He urges not to allow this to happen.
In order to prevent Russia from presiding, the Security Council members must vote.
"The Russian Federation must feel the consequences of aggression and crimes now," Kyslytsia noted.
The presidency of the Council is carried out by each member in turn for one month according to the names of the member states in the English alphabet, that is, 12 countries out of 15 members of the UN Security Council (five permanent and ten non-permanent members) assume this role.
