North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has changed the leadership of the army

Kim Jong-un has changed the leadership of the North Korean army.

This was reported by the KCNA news agency.

The Central Military Commission dismissed Chief of the General Staff Park Su-il from his post. He had held the post for less than six months.

Vice Marshal Ri Yong Gil was appointed to the post of Chief of the General Staff.

Other unnamed generals also lost their positions or were transferred.

The commission identified "counter-offensive plans". DPRK propaganda explains the need for such plans by saying that North Korea allegedly needs to deter "enemies of peace" on the Korean Peninsula.

In addition, the DPRK is thinking about strengthening its army "due to the aggravation of the military-political situation on the Korean Peninsula"

Kim Jong-un believes it is necessary to provide the army with "more powerful means of destruction" to deter and destroy enemy forces.
