NATO to send an additional peacekeeping force to Kosovo

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced that the Alliance will send additional peacekeeping forces to Kosovo.

This is stated on the NATO website.

"We call on all parties to urgently de-escalate. We continue to urge Belgrade and Pristina to engage in the EU-facilitated dialogue, as the only way to resolve outstanding issues and reach solutions that respect the rights of all communities. This is key for lasting security in Kosovo and stability in the region," said Stoltenberg.

The decision was made on September 29. This week, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced a special operation against 30 armed men. They opened fire on law enforcement officers during a battle in Banjska near the border with Serbia.

In May, NATO announced that it would send another 700 troops to Kosovo.
