Moscow is preparing for a siege - DIU on the situation in Russia

Ukrainian intelligence says that the Russian capital is preparing for a siege.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine published a statement on its social media.

Currently, the Russian capital is practically isolated by police and military units. All the military equipment that remains in reserve and in the border regions is being brought to the city.

"There are reinforced patrols at every intersection and at the exits from the city. A large number of buses without number plates and insignia with armed people inside are moving around the city. Interregional passenger transport has been suspended. Freight and postal services have been suspended," the statement said.

Civilian and official traffic on the M4 motorway has been suspended. All lanes have been freed for the movement of military and freight vehicles.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, after the introduction of a counter-terrorism operation in a number of Russian regions, Russian security forces were allowed to:

- Listen to any conversations and check correspondence

- Carry out detentions and searches without additional approvals

- Forcible access to private and official premises

- Use of motor vehicles of citizens and organisations

- Disconnection of all types of communication

- "Removal of individuals from areas and objects"
