Members of the European Parliament ask the court in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for self-proclaimed President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenka
The European Parliament is asking the court in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for Lukashenka.
This is evidenced by a report on EU relations with Belarus adopted by the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.
MEPs, in particular, condemned the illegal transfer of more than 2,150 Ukrainian children from the Russian-occupied territories to so-called "holiday camps" in Belarus.
"Lukashenka is just as responsible for these war crimes as Putin and Lvova-Belova," the report states.
The European Parliament called on all EU institutions and member states to take the necessary measures to ensure criminal prosecution, including issuing an international arrest warrant for Aleksandr Lukashenka and other Belarusian officials involved in war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and aggression in Ukraine.
