Member of Ukrainian Parliament resigns over suspicion of spending holidays in Maldives

On July 25, investigative journalists from Slidstvo.Info published an investigation that revealed that MP Yurii Aristov was staying in a five-star hotel on a private Maldivian island. After that Aristov resigned.
Aristov's resignation was announced by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Yurii Aristov is a member of parliament from Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Sluhy Narodu (Servants of the People) party and deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence.
Slidstva. Info journalists received information from a source that Aristov was staying at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives hotel. During a conversation with Slidstva. Info, a representative of the hotel confirmed that the MP was staying at the hotel but had left it at the time of the call.
One night at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives can cost from 100 thousand hryvnias to one million. It is not known which villa the MP was staying in.
The MP did not respond to requests, and his wife claimed that he was in Vilnius.
After the investigation was published, the head of the Sluhy Narodu faction, Arakhamia, initiated the "suspension" of Yurii Aristov's membership in the faction. Arakhamia promised to strip him of his mandate if the information was confirmed.
However, Aristov later filed an application for this himself. Parliament will consider it at its next meeting.
