Macron: Ukraine can count on European allies to win the war
French President Emmanuel Macron said this in Paris at a briefing before a trilateral meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"Russia cannot and should not win. And as long as Russia continues to attack, we will continue to adapt, to change and to give Ukraine the support it needs to defend its future," Macron said.
He also notes that the people of Ukraine can count on humanitarian support, and the world knows that it can also count on Ukraine, as it continues to supply grain and agricultural products to the most vulnerable countries.
"I want you to remember that France and Germany have been with Ukraine these months. We have been through a lot — since last February to this February. France and Germany have the potential to be game changers, and this is how I see the negotiations today," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that the sooner Ukrainian pilots receive modern aircraft and the stronger the tank coalition is, the sooner Russian aggression will end and peace will return to Europe.
Also, French President Emmanuel Macron presented Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Legion of Honour.
This is the highest honour in France awarded by the president of the country.
"I honour Ukraine and its people. I honour you, dear Volodymyr, for your courage and dedication," Macron wrote.
