Joe Biden plans to propose to the US Congress to combine aid packages for Ukraine and Israel
US President Joe Biden is planning to propose to the US Congress that it approve a joint aid package for Ukraine and Israel.
White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan says this in an interview with CBS's Face the Nation.
He says the package will be "significantly higher" than $2 billion.
"It will certainly include the necessary military equipment to protect freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity in Ukraine, and to help Israel defend itself as it fights its terrorist foes," Jake Sullivan says.
He says that the Russian offensive is very active in northeastern and eastern Ukraine.
"We can continue to sustain deliveries of critical ammunition for them to defend against that Russian offensive and continue pressing forward in other areas in Ukraine. We are doing that. But we need Congress to act," says the White House national security adviser.
