Iran Executes Eight More Over Past 72 Hours

At least eight people have been executed in Iran over the past three days.
This was reported by the Iranian service of Radio Liberty.
Most of them were imprisoned for drug-related offences.
On August 21, four executions were carried out in Zahedan prison in drug-related cases.
In addition, according to human rights organisations, two more prisoners were executed on August 19. The prisoners were allegedly sentenced for a joint murder that took place in 2012.
Local media also reported executions in prisons in Dezfoul, Sheiban and other cities.
"Of course, these are not executions, but extrajudicial killings carried out by the government to intimidate and prevent protests," Mahmoud Moghaddam, director of Iran Human Rights, wrote on his social media accounts.
According to Iranian Human Rights, 61 people were executed between 10 July and 10 August, including 11 Balòc and three Afghan citizens.
It will be recalled that in September 2022, nationwide protests began in Iran over the death of a girl who was detained by the moral police for wearing a hijab incorrectly. Since then, there have been illegal arrests and executions of Iranian citizens.
