Washington, USA (Svidomi) — In the United States, the Senate has presented a compromise bill on border security and $118.28 billion in aid to Ukraine and Israel. Last year, Republicans and Democrats were unable to vote on the bill in December due to differences over the issue of securing the southern border.

The bill provides for:

  • $60.06bn to support Ukraine;
  • $14.1 billion to support Israel;
  • $20.2 billion for border security.

The US plans to allocate another $20 billion to replenish its military stockpiles. In addition, the document contains funding for humanitarian aid in the Red Sea and Taiwan.

At the same time, the money for Ukraine will be allocated as follows:

  • about $14 billion is provided for the purchase of new weapons from US defence companies;
  • $15 billion - for military training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as for intelligence sharing and other support measures;
  • about $8 billion - for direct budget support to Ukraine;
  • $1.58 billion to support the Ukrainian economy.

The White House has already responded to the bill. President Joe Biden called Congress to "come together and swiftly pass this bipartisan agreement".

According to Biden, if the United States "does not stop Putin's appetite for power and control in Ukraine, he won’t limit himself to just Ukraine, and the costs for America will rise."

"Get it to my desk so I can sign it into law immediately," Biden said.

Earlier, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, said the bill would be voted on no later than February 7.
