Germany announces new military aid package for Ukraine

The German government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. 

This is stated on the government's website. 

The package includes:

  • eight armoured personnel carriers, the manufacturer has not been named;
  • 25 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones;
  • 16 Zetros trucks;
  • five vehicles for the Border Guard Service;
  • three vehicles - trucks, minibuses, all-terrain vehicles;
  • ammunition for Leopard 1 tanks;
  • 50 SatCom communication terminals;
  • demining materials;
  • 500 LED lamps;
  • 1,840 combat helmets.

In the future, the Bundestag also plans to provide Ukraine with 20 Marder armoured personnel carriers and 15 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that in 2024, Germany would provide Ukraine with military assistance worth more than €7 billion. 

"President Biden and I agree: we want to continue to provide Ukraine with financial, humanitarian and military support. Today, I spoke to the President of the United States on the phone. Germany is providing more than seven billion euros in military goods in 2024," said Scholz.
