Former Kremlin prisoner Hennadii Afanasiev died at the frontlines

Hennadii Afanasiev fought in the 130th territorial defence battalion of the 241st Brigade. He was killed in the Luhansk region near Bilohorivka.

"Unfortunately, it's true," said his wife Liudmyla Afanasieva.

In 2014, Afanasiev opposed Russia's occupation of Crimea, where he was detained by the Russian FSB in Simferopol on charges of allegedly preparing terrorist attacks.
