Finland believes that the Balticconnector gas pipeline was damaged not by accident

Finland is investigating the damage to the Balticconnector gas pipeline as intentional.

The representative of the national Bureau, Timo Kilpeläinen announces it at the press conference.

The bureau has classified the investigation as aggravated damage. Finland assumes that the damage was caused by external interference. Investigators are establishing whether it was the result of intentional actions.

Estonia will also investigate the incident at the gas pipeline, as the damaged communication cable is located in its economic zone.

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen says in her X that she has informed her EU counterparts about the investigation into the gas pipeline damage.

"It is likely that the damage to both the gas pipeline and the data cable has been caused deliberately," says Valtonen.
