Every person who died in the occupied territory is a verdict on the existing international architecture and international organisations that have forgotten how to save lives — Zelenskyy

In his evening address on June 7, the President of Ukraine stressed the need for international organisations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, to immediately join the rescue operation in the flooded area and help people in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region.

"If the international organisation is not in the area of this disaster now, it means that it does not exist at all, it is inefficient. We have all the relevant appeals from Ukraine and our government," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President reminded that Ukraine had called for an international observation mission to be sent to Nova Kakhovka and to demine the plant's units and all structures.

"Unfortunately, the world's attention was not enough to ensure all this. Now we have to focus the world's attention on eliminating the consequences of another catastrophe caused by Russia," the President said.

Zelenskyy said that more than 2,000 people had been rescued from the government-controlled territories of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
