EU extends sanctions against Russia for another six months

The European Union has extended the economic sanctions against Russia imposed over Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

The European Council published a statement to this effect.

The restrictions will remain in place until January 31, 2024.

Sanctions against Russia include restrictions in the areas of trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods.

They also include a ban on the import and transportation of crude oil transported by sea and certain oil products from Russia to the EU, the disconnection of several Russian banks from SWIFT, and the cessation of Russian propaganda media in the EU.
