EU court allows sanctions against Russian businessman Aleksandr Shulgin to be lifted

On September 6, the EU Court of General Jurisdiction in Luxembourg granted a lawsuit filed by Russian businessman Aleksandr Shulgin to remove his name from future EU sanctions lists.
This is stated in the court's decision.
Shulgin was included in the sanctions lists as the head of the Ozon Group, which is Russia's leading e-commerce platform and generates significant revenue for the Russian government. However, on April 1, 2022, he resigned as CEO of Ozon Group and left the board of directors.
The press service of the Court explained to Radio Liberty that Shulgin did not challenge the sanctions as such in his lawsuit but only demanded that he be removed from future lists.
The EU Council had previously agreed that it would not include Shulgin's name in the updated lists to be published in September.
