Draft law on registered partnerships submitted to the Rada

A deputy from the Holos party Inna Sovsun has submitted a draft law on registered partnerships to the Verkhovna Rada.

She announced this on her Facebook page.

Deputy Sovsun says that if supported, the bill will help LGBT couples define mutual rights and responsibilities, property ownership, inheritance, social protection, and rights upon the death or disappearance of a partner.

The draft law was worked on for nine months by the NGOs LGBT Military for Equal Rights and Tochka Opory UA - NGO Fulcrum UA.

Registered partnerships are a new institution for those who cannot or do not want to get married. Both military and civilian Ukrainians, as well as both same-sex and different-sex couples, can use it.
