Double attack on medical facility in Sumy kills seven people, including police officer

On the night of September 28, Russia launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, two X-59/69 guided missiles and 73 Shahed combat UAVs at Ukraine.

The Air Force Command reported the downing of 69 drones and two X-59/69 missiles in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Rivne, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. One UAV flew in the direction of Russia, while three more lost radar contact (went down) in Ukraine.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians fired 43 times at the Sumy, Khotin, Miropillia, Bilopillia, Richkivka, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Hlukhiv and Shalyhyne communities. The healthcare and residential sectors suffered damage. So far, seven civilians have been reported dead, including one police officer who helped evacuate patients from the medical facility. Twelve civilians were injured, including another police officer. Search and rescue operations continue.

In Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, debris fell in the Obolon district damaging a non-residential building. No casualties were reported.

In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Komyshany, Kizomys, Stanislav, Veletenske, Inhulets, Fedorivka, Ulianivka, Sofiivka, Mykilske, Yasna Poliana, Krasnyi Maiak, Monastyrske, Zmiivka, Tomaryne, Burhunka, Dudchany, Havrylivka, Nova Kamianka, Sablukivka and Novodmytrivka. One civilian was killed and 20 others were wounded, including two children. The shelling damaged critical infrastructure facilities, an administrative building, educational institutions, a shop, residential blocks, two high-rise buildings, 63 private houses, outbuildings, agricultural machinery and cars.

In the Donetsk region, located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine and partially occupied since 2014, the Russian army shelled Hirnyk, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Kurakhivka, Illinivka, Nove, Sontsivka, Stepanivka and Trudove. One civilian was killed and 14 others were injured. Twenty-two private houses and five apartment buildings, a market, a shopping centre, a shop, a café, a car, critical infrastructure facilities, an educational institution, outbuildings, cars, an administrative building, a lock-up, an industrial facility, a cultural institution and a farm were damaged.

In the Cherkasy region, central Ukraine located along the Dnieper River, two fires broke out in the open and a power line was damaged due to the fall of Russian drone debris. As of 10 a.m., power supply has been restored. No casualties were reported.

In the Odesa region, south of Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district. A recreation centre and two cars were damaged, and a fire broke out at the site of the shelling. No casualties were reported.

In addition, the consequences of the shelling of Izmail on September 27 are being eliminated. Three civilians died and 16 suffered injuries. The city declared September 28 a day of mourning.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians attacked Kharkiv, Novoosynove, Shypuvate, Kivsharivka, Kurylivka and Kupiansk. Five civilians suffered injuries due to the shelling. Twenty-one houses, an educational institution, a warehouse, three combine harvesters, and two outbuildings were damaged. The fire broke out in the open as a result of the shelling.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians attacked the Nikopol, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrovsk communities. Two people suffered injuries due to the shelling. A poultry farm sustained damage resulting in the deaths of about a thousand chickens. Seven private houses, five outbuildings, a greenhouse, power lines and gas pipelines were also damaged.

In addition, emergency search operations continue after the shelling of Kryvyi Rih on September 27. So far, three civilians have been reported dead and six others have been injured. The search is on for one more trapped under the rubble.

In the Poltava region, Russian drone debris has damaged the energy infrastructure. As of now, 94 consumers have lost electricity supply. There are no casualties.

In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled the Bashtanka and Mykolaiv districts. The regional military administration reports no casualties.

The Russians launched 429 attacks on the settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022: Huliaipole, Novodarivka, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Levadne. There were 29 reports of residential buildings and infrastructure being destroyed. No casualties were reported.

In the Rivne region, the falling debris of Russian drones damaged a fence, a summerhouse and power lines. As a result, 70 consumers lost electricity. No casualties were reported.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians shelled Hrekivka, Balka Zhuravka and Makiivka with multiple rocket launchers and 30 drones. The regional military administration reported no casualties.
