Denmark to provide 19 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine

Denmark will provide Ukraine with 19 F-16 fighter jets. They will be delivered after the training of Ukrainian pilots.

Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen announced this during a press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"We agree to transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine and the Ukrainian Air Force in close cooperation with the U.S. and other partners, when the conditions for such a transfer are met," the Danish Ministry of Defence website reports.

About six jets are expected to be deployed by the end of this year.

Frederiksen added that over 70 Ukrainians are already in Denmark preparing for the training.

Another 42 aircraft will be provided by the Netherlands. Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed on this with Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

After his visit to the Netherlands, the President of Ukraine travelled to Denmark. He met with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and will also meet with the royal family, party leaders, members of the Folketing, and representatives of Danish business.
