'Coalitions of opportunity' for Ukraine formed at Ramstein meeting

On October 11, "coalitions of opportunity" were formed at a meeting of the Ramstein contact group in Brussels to provide long-term defence of Ukraine and deter Russian aggression for decades, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said.

Estonia and Latvia will provide aid to support Ukraine's IT infrastructure. Lithuania will help with demining.

The United States will lead a coalition to support the development of the Ukrainian Air Force. Denmark and the Netherlands have already joined it. The United States promises to join other coalitions as they are formed over the coming weeks, including those for armoured vehicles and artillery.

It will be recalled that on October 11, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Brussels, where he attended the Ramstein meeting for the first time.
