Civilians in the West should prepare for conflict with Russia — NATO official

Brussels, Belgium (Svidomi) — The Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, Rob Bauer, has called on civilians in the West to prepare for a conflict with Russia. Preparations are already underway at the military level.

"We have to realise it's not a given that we are at peace. And that's why we [NATO forces] are preparing for a conflict with Russia," Admiral Rob Bauer said, reported Sky News.

He said that "not everything is planned, and not everything is going to be hunky dory in the next 20 years".

"We have the plans, and we are preparing for a conflict with Russia and the terrorist groups. It comes to it if they attack us. We're not looking for any conflict,"

added the chairman of NATO's military committee.

Admiral Rob Bauer's statements were made before the start of NATO's largest training programme since the end of the Cold War.

Around 90,000 NATO troops are set to join Steadfast Defender 2024, where they will prepare to repel a possible Russian invasion.
