Bulgaria lifts ban on grain imports from Ukraine
The Bulgarian Parliament has adopted a decision to lift the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain.
This was reported by BNT News.
The debate lasted a little over two hours.
Initially, the Minister of Agriculture of the country was in favour of extending the ban, but changed his mind after reading the forecasts that showed that the ban would not have serious consequences for the Bulgarian economy.
At the same time, the control over imports of Ukrainian products will be strengthened as they do not meet EU standards.
It will be recalled that Hungarian Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said that Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria had agreed to impose a national ban on imports of Ukrainian grain if the EU did not extend the embargo after September 15.
At the same time, Poland stated that regardless of Brussels' decision on the import of Ukrainian grain, the country would not allow itself to be "flooded with Ukrainian grain".
