Biden says Ukraine "doesn't need F-16s" at the moment — the US President in an interview with ABC News

Joe Biden is ruling out for now sending American fighter jets to Ukraine to protect it from Russia's spring offensive.

"We are sending him what our seasoned military thinks he needs now. He needs tanks, he needs artillery, he needs air defense, including another HIMAR[S] (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System). We are sending this to allow Ukraine to put them in a position to be able to make gains this spring and this summer going into the fall.," the US President said.

Biden notes that, according to the military, there is no reason to provide F-16s now.

As a reminder, Joe Biden and White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby previously reported that the United States would not provide Ukraine with F-16 combat aircraft.

On February 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced possible future training of Ukrainian fighter pilots in three other European countries, in addition to Poland and the United Kingdom.
