At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Luxembourg Ministry of Defense created an aid procurement unit for Ukraine
The two-person unit was able to provide Ukraine with almost €100 million worth of weapons.
The Luxembourg military told The New York Times about this in an interview.
The decision to create such a unit was made in view of the fact that the country has a very small army and therefore cannot transfer its own weapons stocks.
The servicemen in the unit had no previous experience in searching for Soviet weapons. Because of this, they faced issues. For example, they ordered 6,000 missiles for the BM-21 MLRS from a Czech manufacturer, but the plant was only able to produce 600.
Nevertheless, the Luxembourgers managed to sign several contracts worth 94 million euros. This is about 15% of the country's defense budget.
