An avenue named after the President of Ukraine was opened in the UK

An avenue in the British town of Harlow has been renamed in honour of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

This was reported on social media by Harlow MP Robert Halfon.

Fifth Avenue in Harlow has become Fifth Avenue — Zelenskyy Avenue.

"Ukraine will win, and as President Zelenskyy himself said in Westminster Hall: "Freedom will win," Halfon wrote on Twitter.

According to the MP, Harlow was built for many displaced London families after the Second World War.

"The city rose like a phoenix from the ashes. We wanted to show the Ukrainians that there is hope for them to have beautiful new cities after they defeat Russia," Robert Halfon told the BBC.

Ukraine's Ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, was supposed to attend the opening, but Zelenskyy dismissed him before the ceremony.
