All NATO members support Ukraine's accession to the Alliance, but it is not yet clear when it will happen - Jens Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that all NATO members support Ukraine's accession to the Alliance, but it is difficult to predict when it will happen.

Stoltenberg said this in an interview with The Washington Post.

"First, all NATO allies agree that Ukraine will become a member of the alliance. All allies agree that Ukraine has the right to choose its own path, which is not for Moscow to decide, but for Kyiv. And third, all allies agree that NATO's door remains open," he said.

The NATO Secretary General adds that NATO is currently helping Ukraine to move from Soviet equipment, doctrine and standards to NATO standards, to make Ukraine's armed forces interoperable with those of the Alliance, and to reform and modernize Ukraine's defence and security institutions.

"The urgent task now is to ensure Ukraine's victory as a sovereign, independent state," Jens Stoltenberg added.
