Associated Press journalists have obtained a photo taken by a Ukrainian drone showing the car. The photo is dated May 28.

The photo shows a car parked on a dam. Its roof is open, and it is clear that there are barrels inside, one of which appears to be connected to a land mine, and a cable is leading to the temporarily occupied riverbank. It is not known how long the vehicle had been standing on the dam.

An unnamed Ukrainian special forces source told AP that the vehicle could have been placed with two purposes: to stop the Ukrainian military from advancing on the dam or to amplify the explosion in the engine room and destroy the top of the dam.

However, a car bomb alone would not have been enough to destroy the dam, the source said.

It will be recalled that on June 9, Norwegian scientists from NORSAR analysed seismic signals from regional stations after the Kakhovka HPP explosion and recorded that the signals confirmed the explosion at the dam.
