Antony Blinken: China is not behaving neutrally, as it supports Russia in the UN and spreads Russian propaganda
The US Secretary of State discussed Russia's invasion of Ukraine during five-hour talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and expressed concern about China's rapprochement with Russia.
Antony Blinken declined to comment on the Chinese Foreign Minister's response to the talks, but called the discussion "useful and constructive." Wang Yi did not hold a press conference after meeting Blinken.
Despite their rivalry, the US and China remain major trading partners. Biden is considering lifting tariffs on a number of Chinese goods to stem rising US inflation.
The presidents of the United States and China are set to deliver a speech together in the coming weeks, Blinken said.
