Ukrainian intelligence says Tu-95 bomber crew chief shot dead in Engels, Russia

Engels, Russia (Svidomi) — Russian Major Oleg Stegachev was shot dead in the Russian city of Engels, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reports. 

The pilot, who served at the Engels airbase, allegedly suffered gunshot wounds.

"He is directly involved in launching missile attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine and killing our [Ukrainian] people. We are clarifying whether he survived or not," Ukrainian intelligence says.

The Russian Defence Ministry has not yet confirmed this information.

It will be recalled that Russia has recognised the death of its sailor on large amphibious assault ship Novocherkassk during an attack on a port in temporarily occupied Feodosia (Kefe).
