Shakhty, Russia (Svidomi) — The Russian gymnasium in Shakhty confirmed the death of one of its alumni, Igor Meshcheryakov, a 2017 graduate, that occurred on the day of the strike on Feodosia.

"Since August 2021, he has served in the 197th Landing Ship Brigade of the Russian Navy on the small landing ship Novocherkassk as a seaman," the website says, as noted by Krym. Realii journalists.

Igor Meshcheryakov died on December 26, 2023, and was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the Russian Federation. The man became the first sailor to be officially confirmed dead as a result of the strike.

It will be recalled that the Ukrainian Air Force claims to have attacked Novocherkask, a large amphibious assault landing ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet near Feodosia (Kefe), located in the southeast of the temporarily occupied Crimea (Qırım).

The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the attack but did not comment on the number of military casualties.
