Turkish President Recep Erdoğan backs parliament's decision on Finland's accession to NATO

Turkey was the last NATO member state to approve the Scandinavian country's accession to the alliance.

The country's official gazette reports that the Turkish president has made this decision.

Now Turkey has to notify the United States of its decision and deposit the signed protocol of accession with the depositary in Washington. It will complete the procedure.

On 31 March, the Turkish parliament unanimously voted in favour of Finland's application.
