The meeting between the Belgorod Governor and representatives of Russian volunteer units did not take place

Volunteers operating on the territory of the Russian Federation have captured at least 13 Russian soldiers. It was not possible to exchange them, so Russian volunteers will hand over the prisoners to Ukraine.

This is evidenced by the statement of the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion.

The Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps are volunteer formations of Russian citizens and ethnic Russians who are fighting against Russian troops. On June 4, the FRL and RVC announced fighting near the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Belgorod region. Later, the Russian volunteer corps claimed that their advanced units were in the suburb of Shebekino. It is a small Russian town located 10 kilometres from the border with Ukraine.

Apparently, they managed to capture two Russian soldiers during the hostilities. They offered the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, to meet them in the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka and exchange the POWs for the opportunity to talk.

He agreed but suggested another place. This meeting did not take place.

Meanwhile, the number of prisoners increased from 2 to 13. The Russians announced that they would hand over the POWs to Ukraine.
