The damaged Russian A-50 aircraft may have flown from Belarus to Taganrog for repairs

The A-50 is a long-range radar detection and control aircraft that detects air defence missile launches. Russia may have about ten serviceable A-50s, so replacing the damaged one may be difficult.

The Belarusian edition of Zerkalo.io confirmed the damage to the aircraft.

A journalist from this publication posing as an employee of the Belarusian Machulishchi airfield called the Taganrog Aviation Research and Development Complex. Her interlocutor confirmed that the plane had arrived in Taganrog on March 2. However, she could not find out how long the repairs would take.

As a reminder, on February 26, an explosion occurred at the Machulishchi airfield. Later, the Belarusian opposition organisation BYPOL published a video of the drone landing on the A-50.
