The 24th EU-Ukraine summit has ended

The parties discussed Ukrainian reforms, further sanctions against Russia, defense aid, and the transfer of frozen Russian assets.

This is confirmed by a joint statement published after the summit.

"The progress that Ukraine has achieved in the seven steps of European integration is impressive," noted Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission. At the same time, it is not enough to immediately proceed to the next stage.

The EU will make a decision on it when Ukraine fulfills the previously set conditions. In particular, this applies to the rule of law and the Constitutional Court.

In the spring of 2023, the European Commission plans to reassess Ukrainian reforms and pass this evaluation on to Ukraine.

  • The EU will also give Ukraine €1 billion to rebuild Ukrainian infrastructure
  • In addition, the European Commission wants to create a separate fund to finance solar energy in Ukraine.
  • The European Union stated that it continues work on the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
  • The EU also plans to strengthen sanctions against Belarus.
  • Work will continue on the entry of Ukraine into the European roaming space.
