Polish Prime Minister: If Ukrainian authorities escalate the conflict, we will add more products to the ban on entry to Poland
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has announced that he will expand the list of products prohibited from importing into the country "if the Ukrainian authorities escalate the conflict".
This was reported by the Polish media outlet PAP.
Morawiecki reacted to a statement by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of Ukraine, regarding an alleged possible embargo on vegetables and fruits from Poland.
"I expect that there will be no Ukrainian embargo on Polish apples and vegetables. This is the last point of our action plan," Kachka said in an interview with Polish radio RMF24.
Later, it became known that the Polish Foreign Ministry had summoned Ukraine's Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych.
The invitation is related to "many statements by representatives of the Ukrainian authorities" that Poland "considers inappropriate".
The meeting will take place after Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki returns from Kyiv, where he is attending a meeting of ambassadors.
It will be recalled that on September 15, the European Commission lifted the ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products. Poland, Slovakia and Hungary retaliated by imposing import embargoes at the national level.
On September 18, Ukraine filed a lawsuit with the World Trade Organisation over the ban on agricultural products.
On September 20, during a speech at the UN General Assembly, Zelenskyy said that "some of our friends in Europe are undermining solidarity with political theatre, making a thriller out of grain. It may seem that they are playing their own role, but in fact, they are helping to prepare the stage for the Moscow actor."
