Microsoft accuses Russian hackers of repeated hacking attempt
Washington, USA (Svidomi) — Microsoft has announced another hacking attack by the Russian group Midnight Blizzard, also known as NOBELIUM and linked to Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service.
On January 20, 2024, it became known that starting in late November 2023, Russian hackers attacked the accounts of the company's employees. They gained access to the email accounts of the corporation's executives, cybersecurity officers, legal and several other departments. They stole some emails and attached documents.
This time around, the company has evidence that Midnight Blizzard is using information previously stolen from the company's corporate email systems to gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access. This included access to some of the company's source code repositories and internal systems.
At the same time, Microsoft found no evidence that hackers were able to break into client systems hosted on the company's server.
