Microsoft has reported a hacking attack by the Midnight Blizzard group (also known as Nobelium), which is linked to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. They gained access to the accounts of the company's employees, including its management.

The company issued a statement.

Starting in late November 2023, Russian hackers attacked the accounts of the company's employees. They gained access to the email accounts of the company's executives, cybersecurity officers, legal department and several other departments.

They stole some emails and attached documents. The investigation indicates that the email accounts were initially targeted for information related to Midnight Blizzard itself.

"The attack was not the result of a vulnerability in Microsoft products or services. To date, there is no evidence that the attacker had access to customer environments, production systems, source code, or AI systems. We will notify customers if any action is required," Microsoft said.
