Germany to hand over new military aid package to Ukraine
Germany has announced the transfer of another military aid package to Ukraine.
The German government's website reports.
The package consists of, in particular:
- IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system and ammunition;
- Vector reconnaissance UAVs;
- four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC);
- five radars;
- missiles for MARS II rocket launchers;
- five unmanned surface vessels;
- six border protection vehicles;
- 155 mm artillery ammunition.
Funding for the security sector in 2023 will cost Germany 5.4 billion euros, with additional authorisations for commitments for the following years amounting to 10.5 billion euros.
"These funds are to be used primarily for military assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, they will be used for re-filling Federal Armed Forces stocks for items delivered to Ukraine as well as for Germany’s contributions to the European Peace Facility (EPF), from which costs incurred from providing military assistance to Ukraine," the statement says.
It will be recalled that Germany will allocate €195 million to support energy and businesses in Ukraine.
