Germany approves licenses for the export of Leopard I tanks to Ukraine

Ukraine will be able to receive tanks from the manufacturer's stocks.

Federal government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said this in a comment to the German public broadcaster ARD. He promised to announce more "in the coming days and weeks."

The Leopard 1 is the first tank produced by the German military-industrial complex after World War II. It is classified as a second-generation main battle tank. This generation also includes the Soviet T-72 and the American M60.
