Poland and allies dispatch four F-16 jets to border during Russia's massive attack on Ukraine
Two pairs of F-16 fighter jets have been launched in Poland in response to Russia's attack on Ukraine.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reports.
"Around 5:45 a.m., an American pair of aircraft stationed at the Łask Air Base took off, and around 6:15 a.m., a pair from the Poznań-Krzesiny Airbase," the statement reads.
During the air attack on January 2, Russia launched missile strikes on the capital, Kyiv. Debris fell in nine of the city's ten districts. At least 33 people were reported injured. One woman was killed.
Two more people were killed in the shelling of the Kyiv region.
Kharkiv, 30 km from the border with Russia, also came under attack. At least 45 people have been reported injured there. Among them are four children. One woman was killed.
It will be recalled that Poland is demanding explanations from Russia regarding the Russian missile that violated the country's airspace on December 29 during a massive shelling of Ukraine.
