ZMINA: Russians tortured more than 500 people during the occupation of Kherson region
The Ukrainian human rights centre ZMINA, citing the prosecutor's office, reported that during the occupation of the Kherson region, Russians tortured more than 500 people.
Since February 24, 2022, 524 residents of the Kherson region have been tortured: 429 people in 2022 and 95 people in 2023.
Among the suspects is 42-year-old Colonel Dmitry Laikov, an officer of the Second Service of the FSS's Department for the Defence of the Constitutional Order. He was notified of suspicion that during the occupation of Nova Kakhovka on the left bank of the Kherson region, he illegally imprisoned residents, tortured them and deprived them of medical care.
Law enforcement officers also identified 26 residents of Nova Kakhovka who voluntarily served in the occupation 'police', abducted and tortured residents.
