YouTube deleted the Wagner group videos and channels sharing them — Oleksandr Tkachenko
On April 21, Ukraine’s Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko, sent an official letter to the Chief Executive Officer of YouTube, LLC, Neal Mohan, asking him to "take substantial measures" to monitor and stop Wagner's online activities.
Tkachenko notes that video hosting websites help to popularise Russian military groups, particularly the Wagner Group.
"Despite having a rather strict editorial policy, such IT giants as TikTok or YouTube serve as effective advertising platforms for Russians to scale up, "rejuvenate" their audience and recruit new mercenaries for the war in Ukraine," the Minister says.
YouTube has reacted and deleted the Wagner Group videos with millions of views and channels that spread the videos.
The head of the Ministry of Culture called on users to send links to YouTube videos with Wagner representatives to [email protected] to "promptly draw YouTube's attention to them".
It will be recalled that on April 13, the EU sanctioned the Wagner Group.
On February 6, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada recognised the Wagner Group as an international crime organisation.
